British Empire Medal
In January 2024 I was included in the New Years Honours list becoming a Medallist of the Order of the British Empire (British Empire Medal) for services to Dry Stone Walling.
I received the medal from the Lord Lieutenant of Gwynedd, Edmund Seymour Bailey in a ceremony at Caernarfon castle
B.E.M recipients also get an invitation to attend a Royal Garden Party in the Grounds of Buckingham Palace.
The story of receiving notification of the award and an autobiographical account of how I got here was published by the Wales Branch of the Dry Stone Walling Association.
